Label honcho Bloody Mary returns to the helm for the 34th release on Dame-Music, twooriginal tracks ‘Knockout’ and ‘No Feeling Is Final’ are backed with a huge remix from none other than Berghain resident, label boss and renowned producer Marcel Fengler.
Alien electronics, ominous pads and a heavy dose of acid craft unmistakably analog cuts that tread the line between electro and techno.
‘Knockout’ stretches across the A-side, a pulsating, incessant acid line snakes its way about the raw 909 drums, tweaked and breaking in a series of hat and crash rolls reminiscent of classic Chicago joints.
On the flip, Marcel Fengler masterfully re-imagines ‘Knockout’ in to a driving percussive, workout, subtly adding and removing elements into a hypnotic, frenetic cut worthy of the dance floor. Finally, ‘No Feeling Is Final’ slows the pace, haunting metallic strings rise and fall between twisted circuitry, an emotive number that could just as easily warm the crowd early as it could jerk tears at close.
